Final Nail in Congress’ Coffin?

Reports are emerging that Congress President Sonia Gandhi is going to deploy her daughter Priyanka Gandhi for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Elections. Congress which is battered severely in all the elections since 2014 sees Priyanka as the only option for a turnaround. They are hoping that ‘Gandhi’ image will steer the party to victory.

Rahul Gandhi is already proved ineffective in the people. So, Priyanka may be the last option for the grand old party. If at all she fails, it will be curtains down. Many senior leaders reportedly pushed Sonia to hold the decision till 2019 elections but the Congress President feels it will be too late by then.

Priyanka also has got a short cut to success. Congress is trying to have a pre-poll alliance with Mayawathi’s BSP which is already ahead of remaining parties. Even though Congress only manages to win handful of seats in the election, the combined succcess of the alliance will be pushed in to Priyanka’s account and will portrayed as her charisma. If the alliance fails or failed to happen, then Congress will be out of contention for 2019.
