First International flight to take off from Gannavaram

Gannavaram Airport has reported phenomenal growth in air traffic after the state bifurcation. Accordingly services were also increased. The government had also undertaken the expansion of the airport. The necessary land acquisition is also happening finally through land pooling for runway extension.

By the time of Krishna Pushkaralu, new facilities like new terminal, flights parking facility will also happen. The first international flight from Vijayawada to Dubai through Air India will take off very soon and that will be the first step in making Gannavaram airport as an international airport.

The capacity of the airport will be increased to 35 services a day from April. Gannavaram airport registered an increase of 70% passenger footfalls in 2015-2016 when compared to 2014-15. With more services coming and the capital activity beginning, the increase is likely to be more for the airport in coming years.
