Flood of Funds for Amaravati

The BJP is on the verge of forming the government, and being short of 40 seats for a majority has turned out to be advantageous for Andhra Pradesh. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has seized this opportunity to engage with BJP leaders, successfully securing substantial funds for the state.

Since assuming office, Naidu has made three trips to Delhi to advocate for Andhra Pradesh’s needs. The central government has responded by releasing ₹7,226 crore to Andhra Pradesh for the development of National Highways and the Seed Access Road in Amaravati.

This allocation makes Andhra Pradesh the fourth state, following Maharashtra, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh, to receive central funds for highway development. In addition, significant progress is being made in the capital city of Amaravati.

The government has initiated jungle clearance operations, targeting the removal of 58,000 acres of tumma trees and thorn bushes within a month. A budget of ₹36 crore has been allocated for these clearance activities, with 250 excavators (proclains) deployed for the task.

This clearing is a crucial step in the development process, as it will pave the way for assigning government plots to the farmers who contributed their land for the capital. The efficient execution of these works underscores the government’s commitment to the planned development of Amaravati, ensuring that the region’s infrastructure and urban planning progress as intended.
