Free Wi-Fi in Hyderabad will be risky?

The new government in Telangana has announced that making Hyderabad a Wi-Fi enabled city by the year end is one of their prime agendas. But experts are more worried about the user identification and the security issues that arise due to the lack of it. There are companies which make internet accessible to large group of users but they minimize the risk of security issues by increasing the level of encryption.

Free Wi-Fi hotspots carry security concerns with data risks for the users. The data theft over such Wi-Fi networks has increased in recent times. According to the IT act, anyone who provides Internet access to another person or group even for an internet cafe, it is mandatory to maintain logs. We will have to see what kind of security and encryption system the Telangana government will be employing in this mamoth project.
