Gali’s Wedding Puts Event Firms in Trouble

Former minister and mining baron G Janardhan Reddy, who recently celebrated his daughter’s lavish wedding, might be in trouble again. Apparently, surveys were conducted on at least 10 event management firms attached to the wedding by the Income tax department.

The Income tax department is checking these firms’ payment receipts, account books, and contract portfolios, especially on the basis of the more expensive and rare items provided by them.

The raid touched three business locations of these companies in Hyderabad and seven others in Bengaluru where they analysed the available stock and recorded it. The wedding was under special scrutiny since, in the wake of the demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, the common public was facing difficulty in taking cash out of their own accounts while standing in ATM queues when money was easily and extravagantly spent at the wedding.
