GAME OVER: Sasikala Back to Jail

In what can be termed as a ‘Game Over’ moment for Sasikala, Supreme Court had overturned Karnataka High Court Verdict which acquits Jayalalithaa, Sasikala and others in Disproportionate Assets case. Both the judges who heard the case are of the unanimous view which means a problem for Sasikala.

The Supreme Court also restored the Trial Court Verdict in toto which means Sasikala will have to go back to jail. The Jayalalithaa’s Close-aide and others were asked to surrender in four weeks to Parappana Agrahara Jail, Bengaluru and complete their four years jail term. She also gets a 100 Crore penalty.

With Sasikala convicted, her hopes of becoming the Chief Minister and a political career are almost reduced to Zero. But then, Sasikala‘s group is likely to carry forward the hopes by nominating a dummy. But then this will be advantage O Paneerselvam big time now.

With this conviction, Sasikala will be barred from contesting polls for 10 years. This judgment comes more than eight months after orders were reserved by the Supreme Court on the appeals filed by the Karnataka government against the acquittal of Jayalalithaa, Sasikala, Ilavarasi and Sudhakaran.
