Government Allows CBI to Conduct Probes in AP

Andhra Pradesh Government has canceled the G.O Number 176 issued by the previous TDP Government. This will ensure that CBI can enter the state any time and take action on any private individual involved in Corruption and is operating from the state.

The current government-issued G.O. 81 to this effect. In November last year, former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu canceled the permission to the CBI to conduct raids in the state without prior permission from State government. At that time, he took the decision as he felt that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was misusing the authority. Soon, West Bengal also followed the suite.

With Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Government canceling the previous G.O., CBI will now be able to register any fresh case involving a central government official or a private person stationed in the state without getting case-specific consent.

Interestingly, Jagan Reddy when in Opposition made allegations of CBI becoming a pawn in the hands of the then UPA Government.
