Govt Not Interested In Pursuing Amaravati Related Cases?

The High Court adjourned the hearing of the AP capital cases to November 15th. A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Arup Kumar Goswami passed the order on Monday. Petitions have been filed in the past challenging the repealing of the CRDA and decentralization acts.

Dozens of farmers and other parties have filed petitions against the three capital proposals. The trial has been delayed because of the Pandemic. A three-judge bench headed by former High Court Chief Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari has started hearing the cases.

Up to 70 percent of the arguments were finished. The farmers and the government’s lawyers have finished their arguments. But after the transfer of Justice Maheshwari, newly-appointed Chief Justice Goswami decided to take up the case right from the start.

Although the court has started hearing the cases in April, the trial was adjourned since the arrival of lawyers from Delhi has become difficult in the wake of the Corona. The cases in the state high court are currently being heard online and the trial began on Monday.

The Counsel for the petitioners, however, requested that the trial be adjourned in view of the increasing number of corona cases. Interestingly, the Public prosecutors also did not object to it. They told that the court that decision be taken according to the discretion of the court. The High Court adjourned the hearing till November 15.
