Green Tribunal Cases Not to Affect Amaravati Loans?

CRDA commissioner Sridhar has clarified that the ongoing legal litigations of Amaravati in National Green Tribunal can not affect the project’s funding sources. There are reports that World Bank put its loan of 50 Crore Dollars on hold until the cases are solved. But CRDA commissioner rubbished those reports.

“Amaravati has got all environmental clearances from the Central government a long ago. It is the only criteria for the lending agencies. Until now, World Bank did not ask any query about the ongoing cases in National Green Tribunal,” Sridhar said. CRDA sources say that the World Bank has allotted Reference Number to the project which will be usually deemed as approved.

This amount (Approximately 3350 Crore) will be released in phases as soon as the government finalizes the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and starts the construction. This comes a short in the arm for the state government which is looking to complete the first phase of the World Class Capital by 2018-19. TDP’s electoral fortunes in 2019 elections will depend on the progress of this project.
