Hyderabad In Race To Host Formula E Racing

If everything goes as per the plan, Hyderabad may host Formula E racing very soon. The Telangana Government, Formula E, and Greenko have signed a Letter of Intent to make Hyderabad a candidate host city for Formula E. New Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru are the other competitors for Hyderabad in this race.

The letter of intent doesn’t guarantee Hyderabad a spot on the calendar, it is the first concrete step towards hosting a Formula E race. If approved, the city will be placed in the elite club of cities – New York, London, Berlin, Rome, and Seoul already hosting the event.

Minister KTR showed special interest in bringing Formula E to Hyderabad and pursued with Anand Mahindra, whose team is already a participant in the race. Unlike F1 Racing, Formula E does not need separate tracks and can be done on existing roads.

Representatives of Formula E arrived in Hyderabad and inspected the roads in the Hussainsagar circuit of Tank Bund and Necklace road, the circular road around KBR Park in Jubilee Hills, and the financial district road in Gachibowli. The roads that are selected may have to be widened.

If approved, it will be a jewel in the crown of Hyderabad.
