Hyderabad Metro Cost Overruns Mounting to 3700 Crore

The first phase of Hyderabad Metro Rail Project will be inaugurated on 28th of this month. But Larsen and Toubro, the concessionaire of the project is still not happy with the state government maintaining silence about the cost overruns of the project.

L&T, the concessionaire of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project, is demanding 3700 crore from the Telangana government as compensation for the financial burden it incurred due to delays in handing over land for executing the project as well as additional financial support.

The company is writing several letters about the same to the government but is yet to get a commitment from the state. The project, which began in July 2012 and was to have been completed by July 2017 but was delayed mostly due to the mistakes of the state government.
