BRS working president KTR addressed the media at Telangana Bhavan on Friday and reacted to L&T’s exit from Hyderabad Metro. He reminded that under the BRS government, Hyderabad Metro became the second largest in the country.
He said their government laid the foundation for the airport Metro. KTR also noted that late YSR had taken a wise decision by leaving extra space along the ORR, which supported infrastructure projects in later years.
KTR stated that KCR had plans to expand the Metro to 400 km and that the cabinet approved a phased development plan. He said Revanth Reddy cancelled the airport Metro project, and if he wanted, it would have been completed by now.
According to KTR, there were no land acquisition hurdles. L&T wanted to proceed with the airport Metro, but Revanth Reddy blocked it. This led to friction with the company. He said L&T eventually withdrew after facing many difficulties in running the Metro.
KTR said L&T’s withdrawal is a black mark on Revanth Reddy’s government. He alleged that Revanth Reddy is threatening investors and acting like a dictator, which damages Telangana’s image as a safe investment destination.
