Gaddimeedi Venkatesh, 23, was working at the popular Roast Cafe as a gardner. Venkatesh was originally from Jaklair village, Nara mandal, Mahbubnagar district.
Venkatesh started playing Ludo online on an app. However, he slowly got addicted and lost Rs 5 lakh. Unable to take the loss, Venkatesh drank pesticide and committed suicide.
Venkatesh got addicted to Ludo and other betting apps and piled up loans up to Rs 6 lakh. He attempted suicide two days back. His friends got him admitted to NIMS.
However, Venkatesh died in hospital. His brother Bhimshanker complained to the police against the Joopy online app. The police filed a case against the site owners under Section 108 and are investigating the case.
