“I Did Not Murder My GF, I Just Killed Her!”

The boyfriend of Sabita Thanwani, who was a student, admitted to killing her in her University accommodation, though he did not admit to murder. Maher Maaroufe, 23, pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Sabita was 19 years old, and a neighbor called in the police when they heard screams coming out of her room in central London on March 19 last year. Meanwhile, the attacker tried to get into another room prior to leaving the building located on Sebastian Street, Clerkenwell, London, UK.

Sabita was found with a serious neck injury when police found her, and she died at the scene at 6 a.m. The post-mortem showed that a sharp-force trauma to the neck caused Sabita’s death. In a garden shed, police discovered Maaroufe dozing off under a tarp.

He did not have a fixed address and pleaded guilty to hitting an emergency worker. Maaroufe was interrogated through an interpreter. Sabita’s family attended the hearing and said she was an angel upon Earth who was now an angel in Heaven.

They hoped that lessons would be learned and that a day would come when girls and women would be safe.
