India Announces Complete Lockdown for Three Weeks

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the nation had announced a complete lockdown for three weeks. It will come into force from 12 AM today. “This lockdown is in a way curfew and would be more stringent than Janta curfew, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said.

“If we do not exercise restraint for 21 days, we have to pay the price for 21 years. We may have to pay the financial cost for this lockdown but it is important for the safety of people. With folded hands, I appeal to people not to go out of their homes,” the Prime Minister added.

The lockdown will be enforced for 21 days to break the cycle of infection. Every state, UT, district and village will be locked down. According to the stats with the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of cases in the country are at 519. Ten deaths have happened so far.

In Telangana, the number of cases stands at 36 while Andhra Pradesh registered Eight Cases so far. It has to be seen how the Governments will take care of the daily essentials for the people during this Lockdown. Coming 21 days will be very crucial in the history of India.
