Jagan Government is accused of diverting Panchayat funds from the Finance Commission and Government of India to various welfare schemes. Guntur district Sarpanches association, the other day, called for a Pressmeet and demanded immediate release of funds.
In one year of the elections, the Panchayats did not get funds from the Government. We were not paid out honorary salaries as well. If funds are not released immediately, we will have to fight,” they warned the government.
The Union Government also announced to the Parliament recently that it is looking into the matter and will take action. The State Government is also sitting on the cash awards for Panchayats which have gone for unanimous elections. As a result of all this, the development in Andhra Pradesh villages is lagging big time.
