12 Arrested In Infant Sale Racket: Hyderabad

The Srushti Fertility Center case, where infants were sold under the guise of surrogacy, remains fresh in Hyderabad. Now, a similar infant sale racket has been exposed in the city. Police have arrested multiple individuals linked to the illegal operation.

Investigations revealed that lakhs of rupees exchanged hands as part of the racket. Police arrested 12 people connected to the network and rescued infants from their custody. The arrests followed detailed surveillance and coordinated action.

The racket extended beyond Hyderabad, with infants sourced from different parts of the country. The SOT team confirmed that the gang had sold at least 15 infants so far. All 12 accused were taken into custody through a carefully planned operation.

Police found that the accused acted as agents for eight hospitals in the city. The SOT rescued two girl babies during the crackdown. Statements from those arrested revealed that each infant was sold for Rs 15 lakh.

With rising cases of couples remaining childless due to fertility issues or personal choice, demand for surrogacy-related services has grown. While many follow legal procedures, racketeers manipulate the system to carry out illegal infant sales.

The lure of money and the desperation of childless couples fuel such crimes. Racketeers often steal babies or purchase them from parents unable to raise children. Authorities continue investigations to uncover deeper links.
