Intelligence eye on Twitter and Facebook!

Central Intelligence Agencies were seriously concerned with the social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook which helped the false propaganda on Indian Intelligence Agencies alleging they were behind the Peshawar School Attack recently. The Intelligence Agencies felt the sites were irresponsible in blocking such content and so forced a study on their revenue model in India.

Last week, a Techie in Bangalore was arrested for helping ISIS, an international Terrorist outfit operate and recruit several Muslim youth to Jihad by a Twitter Account. The intelligence agencies want to put an eye on the servers of these websites which are usually located outside of India.

On the other side, representatives of the social networking sites say they are not at all involved in helping any propaganda but will always act accordingly to curb the spread of malicious content. They say some sort of disconnect between the technology and the government’s understanding of it is the reason for intelligence agencies mistaking the role of social networking and they will help them understand it.
