IT Raids On Sukumar, Not Just About Pushpa 2

The Income Tax Department has been raiding various Production Houses in the Telugu Film Industry since yesterday. It has come to light late that the Department has also knocked on the doors of Director Sukumar.

The raids have been happening since yesterday and Sukumar was picked up from the Airport by the IT Sleuths and were checking all the financial records.

It is quite common to assume that the raids are about Pushpa 2 remunerations and relevant tax evasion.

But there is more than the eye meets in these raids.

Sukumar is very close to the producers of Mythri Movie Makers. He is also partnering with them (with his Sukumar Writings Banner) to produce some films.

The director is also part of the investments made by Naveen Yerneni. So, the department is digging into all those details.

And then, there is Pushpa 2. Sukumar took home one of the biggest remunerations in Indian Cinema for the film. Along with the remuneration, he also took a percentage of the profits of the film that is the biggest grosser.

Sukumar Writings is also the part of RC16 production along with Mythri Movie Makers and Vriddhi Cinemas. The producers of other two production houses are also under IT Department’s Radar since yesterday.

It is interesting to note that Mythri is releasing Gandhi Thatha Chettu which marks the debut of Sukumar’s daughter Sukriti Veni. The movie is releasing on January 24th and the raids are happening just days away from the release.
