It’s Scary! India Beats China

Well, it’s both scary and an issue that needs long-term policy decisions in India. According to results from IQAir’s 2021 World Air Quality Report, there are 15 most polluted cities in the world in 2021. In fact, if you thought China topped the list, then you are grossly mistaken. It’s India that has 12 cities on the most polluted list.

According to WHO, air pollution is the highest in middle to low-income countries due to poor pollution standards and industrial work and development. It says 99% of the world population currently lives in places where the air quality exceeds WHO guidelines.

Meanwhile, Earth.org has gathered information on the most polluted cities and they are as follows: 1) Bhiwadi, India, Ghaziabad India, Hotan China, Delhi India, Jaunpur India, Faislabad Pakistan, Noida India, Bahawalpur India, Peshwar India, Bagpat India, Hisar India, Faridabad India, Greater Noida India, Rohtak India, and Lahore Pakistan.

Apart from health conditions, air pollution also results in acid rains, reduced crop yields to reproductive failure, and diseases in wildlife animals.
