YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will appear in person before the CBI special court in Hyderabad on 20 November. The former CM and YSRCP chief has been out on bail for years in the widely discussed disproportionate assets case.
Jagan last appeared in court on 10 January 2020 while he was the CM. After that, he secured permission from the CBI special court to skip personal appearances. He had argued that his security needs and administrative work did not allow him to attend regularly.
Even after his defeat in the 2024 general elections, Jagan continued to stay away from the court. But the CBI demanded his presence after alleging that he submitted a wrong phone number during his London trip. This renewed push led to strict directions from the court.
Earlier, Jagan cited security reasons to avoid appearing in person. Now, he does not even hold the opposition leader’s post. As the YSRCP chief, he has been actively conducting rallies. With no convincing reason left, the CBI special court instructed him to appear before 21 November.
