The other day, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy surprised everyone by announcing Vijayasai Reddy as the incharge of Nellore Parliament. If he is the candidate, this will be the first time Sai Reddy will be facing a direct election.
Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy was initially announced as the candidate for YSR Congress in the Nellore Parliament. But Vemireddy was snubbed after Jagan did not take him into confidence while picking the candidates under his Lok Sabha segment.
Vemireddy is joining TDP today. Vemireddy is an influential man and is also the financial backbone of the YSR Congress in the Nellore district. This is a big blow for Jagan. He tried various combinations to take on Vemireddy but nothing worked.
Political Experts and the internal surveys say Vemireddy’s influence will be on the entire district and TDP is likely to win majority seats in the district that was supposed to be YSR Congress’s strong forte.
Out of desperation to stop it at any cost, Jagan para dropped Vijayasai Reddy to Nellore. But then, Sai Reddy is unlikely to be a match for Vemireddy, Political Experts say.
Jagan displayed the same desperation in 2014. He saw a TDP wave in Uttarandhra and brought his mother, YS Vijaya Lakshmi to the Vishakapatnam Parliament. Vijaya Lakshmi failed for the first time in her short political career and it was the last election she ever faced.
