Jagan Government’s Strange Demand to the Center

Andhra Pradesh Government had decided to approach the 15th Finance Commission with a strange demand. The Government is going to approach the commission to recommend the complete waiver of all the loans of the State to the Central Government. It will also seek to continue the Revenue Deficit which was in practice during the 14th Finance Commission.

“We are planning to approach the 15th Finance Commission to waive off all the central loans citing haphazard bifurcation and the disastrous financial management of the previous Government. Due to the previous government, we are in neck-deep financial troubles and could not even go for new loans,” an official said.

“There are 2,72,266 bills worth 39,423 Crore pending. All these are pertaining to the previous Government and they have a bearing effect on the State Budget. Moreover, this Government has several commitments to people like Nava Ratnalu. So, we will ask the Commission to consider our request with a kind heart,” he added.

The State will ask the center to consider Andhra Pradesh as a Special State but not as a General Category State. Financial Experts say that this is a very strange demand which has been never done in the past for any state. In all likelihood, the proposal will be dumped without any consideration, they say.
