Jaitley skips mention of Special Status!

Congress Party today raked the issue of various promises made to Andhra Pradesh in the Reorganization Act and on the floor of the house. AP Congress MPs stormed in to the well and staged a protest in Rajya Sabha. Ghulam Nabi Azad mentioned about Special Status, Special Package to backward districts, Capital expenses, Revenue deficit etc.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley made a state over this and his speech has no mention about Special Status. He only promised that Center is committed to bridging the revenue deficit and funding Polavaram Project. Jaitley just mentioned that Center did some things previously and will go on doing further.

He also added that Polavaram Project will be funded by NABARD. Congress MPs continued their protests after Jaitley’s reply and that forced the adjournment of the house. Going by what Jaitley said, we can conclude that Center successfully went off on the promise of Special Status to the state.
