Janasena Rajya Sabha Seat: Bad Choice By Pawan Kalyan!

Four Rajya Sabha seats from Andhra Pradesh are set to fall vacant by June. Of the members retiring, three belong to the YSRCP and one represents the TDP, creating fresh political churn ahead of the elections.

The terms of Alla Ayodhya Rami Reddy, Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose, and Parimal Nathwani from the YSRCP will end on June 21, 2026. Sana Satish, who won on a TDP ticket in a by-election last December, will also complete his term in June.

Based on the current strength of parties in the Assembly, the alliance is expected to secure all four seats. This has raised expectations that Janasena may finally get its first Rajya Sabha MP.

Strong buzz suggests that Pawan Kalyan may allot the Janasena seat to industrialist Lingamaneni Ramesh. If true, this decision is being viewed as a wrong choice by many within political circles.

Several leaders have worked closely with Pawan Kalyan for years. Choosing an industrialist over long-serving party workers could send a negative message, especially when this is Janasena’s first Rajya Sabha berth.

Pawan Kalyan is already facing criticism over giving multiple positions to leaders from his community. He has also been questioned for making Nagababu an MLC, with speculation that Nagababu may even become a cabinet minister.

There is also past controversy involving Pawan Kalyan and Lingamaneni Ramesh. This history could provide ammunition to the Opposition during the Rajya Sabha election process.

YSR Congress earlier alleged that Lingamaneni Ramesh benefited when the Amaravati Inner Ring Road alignment was changed. They claimed Pawan Kalyan received land worth around ₹6 crore at a low price in return for staying silent on the issue.

Janasenan’s Mangalagiri office was built on the same land, according to those allegations. If Ramesh is nominated now, it may reopen old controversies and give the Opposition an unnecessary advantage.

Many feel it would be wiser for Pawan Kalyan to choose a non-Kapu grassroots leader for this seat. Such a move could strengthen the party’s image and avoid internal and external criticism.

There are also rumours that BJP may get two of the four seats. If that happens, critics argue it would be unfair, as BJP already holds two Rajya Sabha seats from Andhra Pradesh beyond its current strength.

The coming weeks will reveal whether Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan stand firm on seat allocation decisions. The choices made now could have long-term political consequences.
