Journalist Unions Call for Statewide Protests Against Jagan Govt’s Order

Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) called for statewide protests on November 1st, the state formation day against the YSR Congress Government’s G.O delegating Powers to Secretaries of Respective Departments to lodge complaints and to file appropriate legal cases against defamatory news items

Scribes will wear black badges and meet leaders seeking support in the fight against the draconian order. While the government says it is intended to control the menace of Intentional Fake News against the Government, it is clear that it is aimed at muzzling the media which do not toe to the Government.

Opposition Parties have already condemned the G.O. and demanded to revoke it. All the journalists except those working in Sakshi are worried about this Gag Order and are gearing up to fight the Government in its attempt to curb the freedom of the media.

It may be reminded to our readers that this order is not just confined to the Print, Electronic, and Web Media but is also extended to the Social Media.
