Former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy who is in police remand regarding the quartz illegal mining case, hasn’t got respite from the Nellore Court. The Court heard his bail petition on Thursday and postponed the hearing to next Monday.
The hearing is also on for taking Kakani into custody. It has to be noted that the police are quite serious about the case. They are interrogating the crimes that happened as a part of illegal mining of quartz.
The police are interrogating the accused and witnesses in the case. They have already identified many crimes. Meanwhile, Kakani has been committing mistakes since the cases were filed.
To begin with, he went absconding for two months after being served notices. The police finally arrested him at a remote farmhouse near Bengaluru. After arrest, Kakani has maintained that he doesn’t know or doesn’t remember anything.
But many accused have revealed that they carried out the orders of Kakani. Kakani had exported 61,000 metric tonnes of quartz by using heavy explosives within a short duration.
He had exported it to China and other countries. The police are investigating about the organisations that bought quartz from him and to which accounts the money was transferred.
If Kakani is given for custody today, more facts will emerge. For now, Kakani is in remand in Nellore central jail.
