Kancharla Chandrasekhar Reddy, the father-in-law of Allu Arjun and a senior Congress leader, has approached the Telangana High Court against the state government’s KBR Park expansion project.
He filed a personal petition requesting that his house not be demolished as part of the road-widening plans.
Additionally, he urged the court to stop all construction activities around KBR Park, citing environmental concerns. His petition is among five others that are currently pending in the court.
The Revanth Reddy government has planned to build flyovers and underpasses around six major junctions near KBR Park to ease traffic congestion.
This expansion is divided into two phases, with the first phase costing 580 crores and covering key locations such as the entrance junction, Jubilee Hills check-post, and Mugdha junction.
The second phase, estimated at 510 crores, includes projects at Road No. 45 junction, Film Nagar junction, Maharaja Agrasen junction, and Cancer Hospital junction.
Chandrasekhar Reddy had earlier submitted an appeal through the ‘Prajavani’ grievance system, requesting the protection of his house. However, after receiving no response from the government, he escalated the issue by filing a petition in the High Court.
Interestingly, apart from his property, the project also affects the residences of several notable figures, including senior Congress leader Jana Reddy and actor-turned-politician Nandamuri Balakrishna.
This legal challenge poses a hurdle for Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s ambitious infrastructure project, as opposition from influential individuals may lead to delays or modifications in the expansion plan.
