Why the Sudden Focus on Kapu Political Heirs?

After Ambati Rambabu incident brought the Kapu issue to the fore, suddenly, there is a lot of attention on second generation Kapus whose parents made their mark in politics.

Many felt that Ambati Rambabu’s daughter Mounika would plunge into politics for going public about her father’s issue. Given her aggressive speeches highlighting the Kapu sentiments made many believe that she could be the heir apparent.

However, Ambati brushed aside the matter saying there was no need as he was already active. He added that the decision was upto his daughters though. Now, the focus shifted to slain leader Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga‘s daughter.

Ashalata who runs the Radha-Raja Mitra Mandali is in spotlight too. After questions relating to her political plans, Ashalatha denied getting into politics any time soon. However, it has to be noted that she did not deny an entry. She simply said politics were some time away. Ashalatha made it clear that the Mitra Mandali involved all people with different political ideologies and castes.

If one goes back a little, ex YSRCP leader Vijaysai Reddy made a statement that the energetic kapus from villages went on to make up the Reddy clan.

To the current generation, Pawan Kalyan and to a lesser degree, his brother Nagababu are kapu icons. But looks like the YSRCP is trying its best to mobilize and prepare a parallel coterie of kapu leaders to change the caste and political equations in Andhra Pradesh.
