Kavali: Reddy Bastion Going TDP Way?

Kavali constituency in the Nellore district is traditionally a Congress-favoring constituency. Reddys have been dominant here politically for many years. So, it was Congress initially and YSR Congress later.

TDP has won only thrice here in the nine elections that happened since its inception.

The party did not open its account ever since YSR Congress came into existence. But then, Surveys suggest that TDP has a real chance here in 2024.

Ramireddy Pratap Kumar Reddy, who won in 2014 and 2019 here is facing severe anti-incumbency this time. Locals say that Pratap Kumar Reddy has become an epitome of corruption ever since YSR Congress Government came to power in 2019.

Hence the electorate is keen on changing the MLA in the coming elections even though TDP is not strong here. A few days ago, Nara Lokesh has come to Kavali to meet the family of a Dalit who committed suicide due to the atrocities of YSR Congress leaders.

As usual, the local leadership did not make huge arrangements with their dull attitude but then, people came in big numbers to welcome Lokesh indicating the change to come.

In all probability, this constituency will go to TDP in 2024 if they do not get too complacent.
