Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha led a bhoo poratam in Manakondur of Karimnagar district, where around five acres of government land near a police station were occupied along with Telangana movement activists. The protest was aimed at reminding the ruling Telangana Congress of its election promise to allot 250 square yards of land to activists.
During the protest, Kavitha and the activists erected temporary huts on the land and performed a symbolic house-warming ritual by boiling milk. She demanded that the same land be officially allotted to Telangana movement activists.
Rejecting the government’s suggestion of forming committees, Kavitha called for identifying eligible activists through local verification and Activists’ Forum data. She announced that the silent bhoo poratam would continue until clear assurances were given by the government.
The move has created a buzz in political circles across Telangana. While her supporters have welcomed the protest, critics argue that the bhoo poratam is an attempt to stay in the spotlight rather than a practical solution.
Regardless of the criticism, Kavitha’s latest protest succeeded in drawing widespread attention. Her bhoo poratam became a talking point, especially as it unfolded on the final day of 2025.
