KCR playing his cards well in Old City

KCR government had decided to put the Metro Rail Project in Old City on backburner. The government had decided to stick to the original alignment for metro rail project at Assembly and Sultan Bazar recently but is postponing the announcement of the decision officially.

Old City is the part of corridor II from Jubilee Bus Station to Falaknuma. The government is holding up the announcement of sticking to original alignment in the wake of GHMC elections in January. Sticking to old alignment will mean that nearly 1,050 properties in Old City have to be bulldozed to widen roads.

However such decision will adversely impact its prospects in the elections. There are about 50 municipal divisions in Old City alone which can decide the fate of political parties and mayorship in GHMC council so the decision is being held up for the meanwhile.
