KCR’s 100 Crore gift to Media

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao definitely knows how to handle media. Months after coming to power, KCR got two News Channels banned and managed to create fear in media giving no scope for bad news on the government. As there is a possibility of media backfiring ahead of the 2019 elections, KCR is trying to be nice to media.

The state government is in the process of gifting 2BHK flats to 13,000 media persons. This Special gift is likely to cost 100 Crore to the state exchequer. Interestingly, in the state’s Free 2BHK scheme for poor, the beneficiaries have to pay a marginal amount but Journalists need not pay a single penny.

The government already announced that initially two major gated communities will be developed for media persons in Hyderabad and Warangal and later the eight district headquarters will be considered for the purpose. Each apartment will have a built-up area of 1500 sq ft and the gated communities will be provided with all amenities like shopping complexes, schools, health care units and club houses.
