KCR’s Free Strategy to Capture English Market

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao is pushing a new English Newspaper, Telangana Today to have his own presence in English media. Telangana Today is likely to hit stands from the second week of August and the team already started its marketing. We are said that they are targeting readers of its main rivals–Times of India and Deccan Chronicle.

They managed to get hold of the subscribers database of these three Newspapers and are offering a free of cost subscription of Telangana Today for one month in a bid to get their loyalty. We are said many readers are falling for this offer of free subscription and no questions asked cancellation from the second month if they are not impressed.

It may or may not be ethical but this ploy seems to be working for Telangana Today, market sources say. The New Printing Press for Telangana Today was imported from Germany and is said to be more superior than the one in Sakshi, which is superior of all Newspapers in the Telugu States. Telangana Today spent a whopping 50 Crore over the printing machine alone.
