Khammam has a strong influence of Andhra Politics and so, BRS was weak here for many years. But it is slowly gaining ground here after the bifurcation.
To counter BRS, BJP is in talks with Former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. The sulking MP is resigning from BRS later this month and will join BJP. The saffron party is expecting to win 3-4 seats with the influence of Ponguleti.
TDP which announced its re-entry into Telangana politics also had its first meeting in Khammam. YS Sharmila is contesting from Paleru, Reddy bastion in Khammam district in 2023. Her focus is fully on this district for this election.
