Kodela is No More, Rumours of Suicide

Former Speaker of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Kodela Siva Prasad Rao has passed away a little while ago. Kodela tried to commit suicide by hanging himself to a ventilator of his room at his residence in Hyderabad. He was shifted to Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital.

Despite the best efforts of the doctors to redeem him, he could not be saved. Even though there are rumors of suicide, his personal staff are saying that he passed away due to heart attack. Kodela lost in the recent elections and with the new government coming, Kodela’s life was made hell.

The new government registered a slew of cases against Kodela and his family which mounted severe pressure on the former Speaker. With the talks of an illustrious political career coming to a humiliating end, Kodela may have resorted to this extreme step.

A doctor by profession, Kodela won as an MLA from Narasaraopeta between 1983 and 2004. However, he lost in the 2004 and 2009 elections. He is elected from Sattenapalli in 2014 elections. He worked as a Minister in various portfolios in Chandrababu Naidu’s Governments. He is the first Speaker of AP Assembly after the Bifurcation.
