Lady Chief Minister gets a 100Cr jet!

Gujarat government is going to purchase a 100 crore new aircraft for the state Chief Minister, Anandiben Patel. The existing 1.12 carrier, a nine seater Super King Air Beechcraft 200 has completed its maximum recommended lifespan of 15 years. The present one was brought by Narendra Modi’s predecessor, Keshubhai Patel in 1999. Following the death of Andhra Pradesh ex-CM YS Rajasekhar Reddy in an air crash, a slew of safety standards were made compulsory for all states.

The Director General of Civil Aviation has recommended the purchase of a 12-to-15 seater new aircraft with the latest amenities and best safety standards. The aircraft will be bought through global tendering. The routine fuel, maintenance, fuel and other staff expenses cost the exchequer 5 crore rupees per annum.
