Lalu Prasad Yadav Gets 3.5 Years Jail Term

RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav who has been recently convicted by the special CBI court in the fodder scam case is sentenced to Three and half Years in Jail and also imposed Five Lakh Fine. Lalu Prasad is lodged at the Birsa Munda Central Jail in Ranchi while the sentence was announced via video-conference.

This came hours after ED filed a second charge-sheet against Lalu’s daughter Misa Bharti and her husband in a corruption case. Lalu has been convicted in the Deoghar Treasury case. Lalu could have got bail if he is sentenced to less than three years in prison.

He is an accused in four other cases in the fodder scam. The 1997 fodder scam case had virtually brought down his political career. Finally, Lalu is convicted 20 years after the biggest scam in Bihar’s history had first surfaced in 1997
