Late YSR awaits KCR’s decision!

In 2010, the then Congress corporators and GHMC standing committee headed by Mayor Karthikeya Reddy decided to erect a statue of Late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy in the premises of GHMC to honour the deceased leader. Subsequently a statue of YSR is prepared. Two smaller statues of Mahatma Gandhi and BR Ambedkar were placed on the lower pedestral of the statue.

However Telugu Desam Party and other opposition leaders opposed the move as it appeared like Gandhi and Ambedkar are standing at the feat of YSR. The statue from then is kept in the backyard of GHMC office fully wrapped in cloth.

AS the elected body is not in place, GHMC commissioner is authorized to take a decision on this statue. But it is an open secret that it will be a political decision by the TRS government. Sources say the government may reject it citing the rule which prohibits statues of political leaders in government offices.
