Big Ticket Investment Goes to Godavari

Godavari districts are predominantly Agriculture based. People are usually happy here if the government ensures good supply of water to their crops and so there is less focus on industries. But then Godavari districts rallied behind TDP in the last elections and so Chandrababu Naidu is keen on developing the districts with Big Ticket Investments.

West Godavari is the first beneficiary as it is going to have a weapons integration facility to manufacture Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) which is said to be the first-of-its-kind in the country in the private sector. This manufacturing unit in the district will come at a total cost of Rs 2,135 crore. Wem Technologies Private Limited is partnering with Lockheed Martin, the largest defence equipment manufacturer in the US, to set up this facility.

350 acres of land spread over Vatluru and Bhogapuram villages near Eluru in West Godavari district is allocated. In the first phase, they will invest Rs 635 crore and provide employment to 650 persons. When the project is fully functional, 2510 jobs will be created. Wem currently has orders worth Rs 560 crore on hand, government sources say.
