Rs 150 Cr State Library in 24 Months: Lokesh

HRD Minister Lokesh has announced a Library Transformation Plan aimed at revamping the state’s library system. He revealed that a Rs 150 crore world-class state library will be completed in Amaravati within 24 months, marking a major step in education infrastructure.

Sobha Developers pledged Rs 100 crore for the Amaravati library project. In Visakhapatnam, a model library is being built with Rs 20 crore, while another in Mangalagiri is set to be inaugurated by October. Model libraries will come up across all 175 constituencies.

District libraries will be doubled from 13 to 26. Lokesh also said the government will expedite the collection of library cess dues. Special emphasis will be placed on digital libraries, and a new mobile app will be launched within 100 days.

Civil services aspirants will gain access to books in both physical and digital formats. Lokesh stressed that the initiative reflects his vision to ensure students and subject enthusiasts have valuable resources to aid their academic and professional pursuits.
