Madhapur Drug Bust: 8 Arrested, MNCs Warned

In a significant operation by the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB) at Quake, Madhapur, eight individuals, including employees from top multinational companies (MNCs), were caught consuming drugs like marijuana, cocaine, amphetamine, and methamphetamine.

The operation, which was carried out on Sunday night in collaboration with the Cyberabad Police, involved cutting-edge equipment such as rapid-result drug detection kits and narcotics detection dogs.

The operation targeted a range of potential drug consumers at the venue, with 25 individuals initially identified for testing. Of these, 14 were tested, and eight were found positive for drugs.

TGANB officials stressed that the operation adhered to a strict protocol, which included testing even high-profile figures like internationally acclaimed DJ Ben Bohmer, who tested negative.

Following the results, the TGANB plans to issue letters to the HR departments of the MNCs where these employees work, advising that they be granted two months of leave to attend a de-addiction camp. This initiative is part of a broader effort to curb drug use in Telangana and emphasize the importance of a drug-free lifestyle.

In line with this, the TGANB has instructed all pubs and bars in Telangana to prominently display signs stating their zero-tolerance policy for drugs and underage drinking. These venues are expected to adhere to strict legal norms or face severe consequences for violations.

The TGANB has also announced that similar checks will be conducted across Telangana in the lead-up to the New Year celebrations. They are urging the public, especially the youth, to stay away from drugs, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a drug-free lifestyle for the well-being of individuals and society as a whole.

The department also encouraged citizens to report any drug-related activities anonymously via their toll-free number, 1908, to help make Telangana a drug-free state.
