Man kills mother for failing to find bride for him

D Amarnath Prasad, a cab driver belonging to Arumbakkam, a locality in Chennai was arrested on Sunday after he murdered his 60-year-old mother because she failed to find a wife for him. Prasad is an alcoholic and is 40 years old. He would often lock horns with his mother on the complaint she is failing to get him married.

His mother, Sasikala however is almost bed restricted because of a leg injury. On Saturday night, Prasad came home late fully drunk and had a heated argument with his mother for not being able to get him married to a suitable woman. He went on to tie her to a chair and set her on fire.

Neighbours tried to save her as she desperately cried out for help. But by the time, they came, she had already suffered sever burn injuries by then. She was admitted to a local hospital and there she succumbed to death. Prasad confessed to his crime during the investigation.
