Coming to the point, a whopping Rs 160 crore worth of liquor and Rs 50 crore worth of meat were consumed in Manguode in the 22 days in the month of October.
The entire district of Nalgonda usually registers liquor sales of around Rs 132 crore per month. But this time around, in Manugode alone, the liquor sales have touched Rs 160 crore already and they are expected to reach Rs 230 crore by the end of this month. The effect of the by-election is overwhelmingly visible here.
Not just that, the liquor is said to be imported from other areas as well. Meat consumption is also at an all-time high and meat vendors are said to be pocketing heavily due to the demand.
It is not uncommon for political parties to use liquor as a primary weapon for the election campaign, but Manugode is hitting new highs in this regard now.
