Maoist Menace surfaces in Telangana

The menace of Maoists was kept down to a great extent in Telugu States after that attack on Chandrababu Naidu in Alipiri. The movement was from then crushed with iron fist by the subsequent governments. Sri Krishna Committee which was constituted to decide up on the state bifurcation back then, threatened about the possibility of naxallism booming if Telangana is formed.

Many rubbished the claims back then. K Chandrasekhar Rao further appeased the Maoists and other Left Groups by announcing during 2014 election campaign that his party would implement the ‘Maoist agenda’. But the unwritten peace agreement between both the sides was foiled by the TRS government.

The encounter of two Maoists, Sruthi and Vidyasagar Reddy, in Warangal district this September rubbed the Maoists on wrong side. Since then their movements increased in Telangana reports say. The kidnapping of six TRS leaders just days ahead of Warangal by-election only indicate things are worsening. The government if not put a check to this, the new state will be in big trouble.
