Is Markapuram Accident An Eye Opener?

In recent times, especially in the past one year, multiple bus accidents happened in the Telugu state. On Thursday, the Telugu states woke up to the sad incident where a bus caught fire after hitting a tipper. 13 people were burnt alive and about 28 people have sustained injuries. The number of deaths is expected to rise.

PM Narendra Modi, Chandrababu, Nara Lokesh, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy have expressed their shock and condolences for the family members.

Reports say the passengers were concerned about the condition of the bus prior to starting the journey. Still the bus started as usual and what happened next is for all of us to see.

So the question arises – who has to be blamed for such accidents? The accident happened at Rayavaram when the concrete-loaded tipper bumped into the Harikrishna Travels bus. The diesel engine burst and led to massive fire burning the entire bus.

Night time travel has become a nightmare for passengers as the mistake could be from both parties. Mostly, private buses are getting burnt in such accidents. Is it time for government to cancel licenses of bus operators who have outdated fleet? In some cases, the drivers are drunk and in other cases, large vehicles are crashing into buses leading to disaster.

The governments talk of multi-lane roads. Isn’t it time to have separate lanes for heavy vehicles to avert such accidents?
