Media Watch: Sakshi’s Clever Reporting To Save YCP MP

KCR’s daughter Kavitha and YSRCP Ongole MP Magunta Sreenivasula Reddy’s names surfaced in the latest charge sheet of ED in Delhi Liquor Scam.

YSR Congress’s official media, Sakshi carried it as a small box item on the main page but intentionally downplayed the role of Kavitha and the MP.

Usually, the news that could influence the politics of AP and Telangana should have had the names of the accused in the heading or at least the sub-heading. There should be pictures of Kavitha and Magunta as well.

But Sakshi played it safe with a generic title ‘Liquor Scamlo Pramukhulu’. It is mentioned that Magunta Sreenivasulu is named in the Charge sheet.

But the News report did not say he is an MP or of the YSR Congress. At the same time, Kavitha is mentioned as MLC Kavitha.

Sakshi carried the article about ED attaching the assets of JC Brothers and mentioned JC Diwakar Reddy as TDP’s Senior leader.
