A unique university shaped like a globe is coming up at AP’s MedTech Zone (AMTZ) in Visakhapatnam. India’s first MedTech University will soon be inaugurated in Vizag, marking a major milestone in healthcare education.
The five-floor university aims to drive research and development in medical technology. It will nurture innovators and future leaders in healthcare technology, strengthening India’s MedTech ecosystem.
The globe-shaped glass building has already become a local attraction. Beyond its design, the university will focus on advanced medical technology education under a public-private partnership.
The institute will provide MBA, MTech, and PhD programmes. It will also offer specialised certifications in medical technology and medical regulatory affairs to meet growing industry demand.
University officials shared that inputs from industry leaders were considered to align with global healthcare standards. AMTZ already houses about 150 companies involved in medical equipment manufacturing and research.
The establishment of MedTech University is expected to make Vizag a hub for innovation. It will also encourage international collaborations, opening doors for global opportunities in healthcare technology.
Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu unveiled the globe-shaped building in July 2024. Detailed course guidelines and programme structures are expected to be announced soon.
