Mega DSC teachers address recruitment claims

The anger expressed by Mega DSC sports quota teachers in Vijayawada highlights concerns over the politicisation of government recruitment.

Around 370 teachers reportedly attended a round-table meeting and rejected allegations surrounding their appointments.

Their argument is simple. If candidates secured jobs through recognised sporting achievements and valid certificates, their eligibility should be checked through official records, not political claims.

The teachers said they trained hard, suffered injuries and won medals before receiving their appointments. Questions about two members of the same family securing jobs also deserve a factual explanation. Recruitment should be judged by eligibility, rankings, certificates and rules, not family connections alone.

At the same time, any allegations of irregularities must be investigated transparently. If doubts exist over certificates or selection procedures, the government should verify the records and make the findings public.

Unverified claims should not become a way to target an entire group of recruits. Political criticism is valid, but it must be supported by evidence.

With the sports quota reportedly increased to 3 per cent, authorities should publish clear selection criteria, verification details and category-wise results to address public concerns.

The issue is bigger than the dispute between the YSRCP and the newly appointed teachers. It concerns whether talented sportspersons can trust government recruitment systems after years of hard work.

If wrongdoing exists, it must be exposed with evidence. If the appointments are valid, the selected teachers should be allowed to serve without unnecessary political targeting.
