The Mega DSC issue has taken a new turn in Andhra Pradesh, with teachers selected through the recruitment process holding a rally in Visakhapatnam over questions being raised about their appointments.
Thousands of Mega DSC teachers from North Andhra took part in the Atma Gaurava Garjana on Sunday. The rally was held from Victory at Sea to RK Beach, with teachers saying their jobs should not be questioned without proper evidence.
Teachers from the erstwhile Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts attended the rally.
The teachers said they had spent years preparing for government jobs and were selected through the recruitment process. Their point was simple: if there are specific irregularities, they should be investigated with evidence rather than raising doubts about everyone who was selected.
The issue has also become political, with the YSRCP questioning the coalition government and Education Minister Nara Lokesh over alleged irregularities in Mega DSC recruitment.
The teachers have now entered the debate themselves. They want any claims about the recruitment process to be checked against examination records, merit lists and other official evidence.
For these teachers, the issue is personal. They worked for years to secure government jobs and now want their appointments to be respected.
The Mega DSC debate is no longer limited to political parties. The selected teachers have stepped forward to defend the jobs they earned.
